It seems like I go through this every year with the kids. We woke up this morning and it was 34 degrees out. Definitely winter coat weather. The problem with this time of year is that by recess it will be in the 50s and the kids definitely won't be wanting to wear their winter coats. This year, Christopher was perfectly happy to wear his winter coat in the morning and just pack his jacket in his backpack to wear for recess. Nice, easy peasy. It must be really cold at 7:05 am at his bus stop.
Payton, on the other hand, was a completely different story. When I told Payton she had to wear her winter coat, she broke down in tears. And then the arguments started. Granted the root of all this comes from the fact that she really wants to wear the fleece coat that her Daddy got for her. I understand. She's attached to it. However, Payton did not go for the idea of packing it in her backpack. That just started another argument because she thought I said packpack and it's not called a packpack. Her best argument for me was that I might as well just tell her to wear 99 pairs of pants and 1499 shirts. I thought she said 14, pause, 99, meaning 14 or 99 shirts. I tell her to go ahead and put on 98 more pairs of pants and 98 more shirts. At which point, she said, "I said 1499 shirts!" What in the world was I thinking???? Then go put on 1498 more shirts. 8 year old arguments :-)
And just because sometimes Mom actually knows what she's talking about, Payton also wanted her gloves when we went out to the bus stop. And being the nice Mom that I am, I ran back in the house to get her some.
Yay winter!
Happy 18th Birthday, Savannah!
